Mr Charles Hendrickse MB ChB MD FRCS (Ed) (General Surgery)
Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon



Mr Charles Hendrickse was appointed to the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust as consultant general and colorectal surgeon in October 1997. He graduated from the Liverpool Medical School in 1984 and completed his basic surgical training in the Mersey region. He moved to the West Midlands in 1987 where he completed his higher surgical training in General and Colorectal Surgery. He was awarded a MD from the University of Birmingham in 1996 for his research in colorectal cancer. He is general surgeon with a specialist interest in colorectal disease. He is a core member of the multidisciplinary teams managing colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He is a trained laparoscopic surgeon and colonoscopist. Mr Hendrickse also has an interest in and provides a general paediatric surgical service to the Trust. He is a Fellow and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Honorary Senior Lecturer of the University of Birmingham and a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.


He is currently the Clinical Director for General Surgery and Gastroenterology and is the Clinical lead for Colorectal Surgery for the Trust
